Ruben Brosbe & Akiea Gross
A former New York City Teaching Fellow and 2012 graduate of the the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Ruben Brosbe teaches fourth-graders in central Harlem. He is a founder of #TeachResistance and one of the authors of a toolkit including lesson plans and resources for K-5 educators.
He believes young people make the best activists because they inherently care about fairness and kindness for all.


Akiea Gross is a Kindergarten Teacher at Harlem Village Academies and the Founder and Educator-in-Chief of Equitable Schools, Inc., a new nonprofit organization on a mission to develop strategies to close the opportunity gap for students of color through addressing the racial and cultural inequities in schools. She is also the creator of #BlackTeachersMatter and #MyBlackTeacher, two initiatives started to address the racial and cultural inequities in teacher workforce.
